When Stay Above the Fold was founded in 2008, our original concept was to build and market web sites for local businesses with the goal of being able to earn enough to escape our day jobs. What we discovered were companies who wanted us to run their online sales channels for them, with little to no support, authority or resources. We met CEOs, CMOs and GMs that ran the gamut from passionate and disillusioned to apathetic and distracted. Captains of local industry, some operating at a national level, that knew the Internet was important and they needed a web site, but had no plan for what they wanted to accomplish for their brand or its customers.
You can guess what happened, right? We built a few sites, realized we were on the passionate and disillusioned end of that same spectrum…and pretty much gave up for a while.
With new day jobs, a revised concept for our little side project, and a renewed passion for impacting the sales channel that stands the best chance of strengthening our local community, we are happy to announce the return of Stay Above the Fold!
As we get back to work, we hope to dispel the disillusionment and apathy we encountered before by sharing what we have learned over the years, referencing the ideas and case studies of others, and trying to spark a fire for an active Internet industry in our local community. We will continue building and marketing web sites for local companies, though we will probably proceed a little slower this time around, and make sure everyone involved in a project is on the same page…and stays above the fold!
Travis Steele – Principal of Business Development
Travis’ strengths lie in business relations and project management. Travis works very closely with clients and the Stay above the Fold development team to ensure projects are delivered as promised. His primary role is to gather information from the client, create detailed specifications and to provide that information to the rest of our development team.
Alex Lorenz – Principal of Web Development
Alex leads the Stay above the Fold development team, delivering custom solutions to best fit each clients’ needs. Lead developer turned project coordinator, Alex maintains a healthy knowledge in several programming languages and provides technical feedback to our developers to ensure project success.
Josh Winkler – Principal of Internet Marketing
Josh heads up the marketing team at Stay Above the Fold. A specialist in search engine optimization, he has almost a decade of experience in the realm of Internet marketing.
